The International Sport for All Federation is pleased to welcome CMAS – the World Underwater Federation – as a new Committee Member. CMAS is the international federation for underwater sports and activities, and its membership strengthens our shared commitment to inclusion, participation, education, and sport for all.

CMAS brings a wide and diverse sporting ecosystem. Its competitive disciplines include freediving, finswimming, underwater hockey, underwater rugby, underwater orienteering, underwater target shooting, spearfishing, sport diving, aquathlon, underwater photography and video, and underwater parasports.

Beyond competition, CMAS is active in training, safety, scientific research, environmental protection, underwater cultural heritage, youth engagement, and international cooperation. It also organizes international underwater sport events and develops technical and scientific knowledge across its global network of federations.

This new Committee membership reflects a common vision of sport as a tool for participation, wellbeing, education, and respect for the natural environment. CMAS’s experience in both sport governance and underwater activity development will be a valuable contribution to our work.

CMAS operates across several key areas, including:

  • Sport competitions and championships in underwater disciplines.

  • Training and education for safe and reliable diving practice.

  • Scientific and technical work supporting underwater activities.

  • Environmental protection and conservation of marine and freshwater environments.

  • Youth, inclusion, and international cooperation initiatives.

The International Sport for All Federation looks forward to building a constructive collaboration with CMAS in the spirit of openness, excellence, and accessibility for all communities.

Founded in 1959 in Monaco, CMAS is the World Underwater Federation and brings together national federations from around the world. It is recognized internationally as the governing body for underwater sport disciplines and freediving being IOC recognised, ARISF and IWGA member.
