The International Sport for All Federation (FISpT) is proud to announce that it has formally joined the United Nations Sports for Climate Action Framework, an initiative led by UN Climate Change (UNFCCC) to mobilise the global sports community in the response to the climate crisis. By joining this movement, FISpT aligns Sport for All more closely with the goals of the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Launched in 2018 by UN Climate Change together with the International Olympic Committee, the Sports for Climate Action Framework brings together sports organisations, leagues, federations, clubs, and event organisers to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to use the unique power of sport to inspire climate action worldwide. Today, hundreds of signatories across all continents work within this collaborative framework to protect the future of sport, strengthen climate resilience, and accelerate the transition to a low‑emission, climate‑resilient economy.

By signing the Sports for Climate Action Declaration, FISpT commits to five core principles that guide its work on sustainability and climate:
Undertake systematic efforts to promote greater environmental responsibility;
Reduce overall climate impact;
Educate for climate action;
Promote sustainable and responsible consumption;
Advocate for climate action through communication. These principles will be progressively embedded into FISpT’s strategies, events, development programmes and communication activities across the global Sport for All community.

For the Sport for All movement, the importance of this commitment is both practical and symbolic. Climate change is already affecting playing conditions, facilities, and communities worldwide, with impacts ranging from extreme heat and flooding to damage to sports infrastructure and disruptions to events. At the same time, Sport for All reaches millions of people of all ages and abilities; by leading on climate responsibility, FISpT can help reduce its own footprint while engaging participants, clubs and local organisers as ambassadors for everyday climate action.

As a signatory, FISpT will progressively measure and understand the climate impact of its activities, define concrete reduction measures, and report on progress in line with the expectations of the Framework. It will also contribute to knowledge‑sharing and cooperation with other international federations and organisations, in order to spotlight good practices, develop practical tools, and scale up climate solutions that are accessible to grassroots and community‑based sport.
If you tell a bit more about your target audience (general media vs. sports governance insiders) and whether you want quotes from FISpT leadership included, how would you like to adapt or strengthen the tone of this draft?

Our federation is delighted to participate in this initiative.
