Rome, April 13, 2026 — The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) has officially become a Committee Member of the International Sport for All Federation (FISpT), marking an important step in the growing collaboration between two global organizations devoted to promoting inclusive participation and physical activity for people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.

The new affiliation reinforces WFDF’s stature as a leading international federation committed not only to competitive excellence but also to spreading the joy of movement and play through accessible, sustainable, and socially engaging sports. By joining FISpT, WFDF becomes part of an international platform that unites organizations across continents under the shared values of inclusivity, health promotion, lifelong participation, and the ethical use of sport for social development.

The International Sport for All Federation (FISpT) — recognized for fostering cooperation among sport structures worldwide and for its advocacy within major global bodies such as UNESCO and the IOC — has long emphasized sport’s role as a universal language for peace, inclusion, and community building. Within this framework, the participation of the World Flying Disc Federation represents a natural and inspiring evolution.
WFDF is the international sports federation responsible for world governance of flying disc (frisbee) sports, including Ultimate, Beach Ultimate, Disc Golf, Freestyle, Guts, and Individual Events. Formed in 1985, it is a federation of 130 member associations, which represent flying disc sports and their athletes in more than 126 countries. WFDF is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), and the International University Sports Federation (FISU). It is a member of the International World Games Association (IWGA), the Association of IOC Recognised International Sports Federations (ARISF), the International Masters Games Association (IMGA), and the Association for the International Sport for All (TAFISA). WFDF is a signatory to the World Anti-Doping Code and is a registered not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation in the state of Colorado, USA.

The flying disc embodies the essence of “Sport for All” in a unique way. Disc sports require minimal equipment, have low entry barriers, and are inherently adaptable to diverse spaces — from city parks and schoolyards to beaches and open fields. Furthermore, activities like Ultimate, Disc Golf, and Dodge Disc highlight key social and ethical principles such as fair play, respect, and spirit of the game, reflecting the inclusive and educational dimension at the heart of FISpT’s mission.

Through this new alliance, FISpT and WFDF aim to develop joint projects promoting grassroots participation, environmental sustainability, and intercultural exchange through flying disc sports. By emphasizing community engagement, informal participation, and inclusive programming, the two federations will work to support public institutions, schools, and local organizations in implementing sport-based educational and recreational initiatives designed to promote well-being and social cohesion.

Marco Tomasini, CEO of FISpT, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership:
“Welcoming the World Flying Disc Federation into FISpT as a Committee Member perfectly captures the spirit of our Federation. The flying disc is universal — it breaks down barriers of language, age, and ability. Whether played competitively or recreationally, it represents freedom, joy, and connection. WFDF’s approach to sport aligns perfectly with our global mission to make sport accessible to everyone, to build healthier communities, and to use play as a bridge between cultures. Together, we can redefine the meaning of participation in sport worldwide.”

WFDF’s strategic involvement in FISpT initiatives will also contribute to research and dialogue on sport accessibility, sustainability in practice, and innovative models of engagement beyond professional competition. This cooperation underscores the federations’ shared commitment to the implementation of the Sport for All Charter and to strengthening partnerships with educational, environmental, and governmental sectors.
Both organizations view this collaboration as a foundation for international exchanges, festivals, and pilot programs designed to expand the reach of flying disc sports into new regions, emphasizing their positive impact on physical health, mental well-being, and social inclusion.
